Higher Education Union Press Conference

In order to get the attention of the new Christie administration, the Council of NJ State College Locals (CNJSCL), Rutgers AAUP, the NJSFT and the State Conference of AAUP Chapters is planning a press conference in Trenton on February 25th at 1 PM inside the State House.

Nick Yovnello of the CNJSCL will be the main speaker and he will stress that Governor Christie should give the higher education unions an opportunity to be heard in any discussions over his higher education policies.  

He will also stress the need for full compliance with the new bill signed into law by Governor Corzine that requires greater accountability from individual boards of trustees, strengthens the authority of the Commission on Higher Education and creates a cabinet level position for higher education.  Other speakers will address related issues of access, affordability and accountability.
